I live in Columbus Ohio and when listening to my local police when dispatch is done speaking I get a loud squelch sound. I have done everything to get rid of it. I have messed with the squelch. My police is not digital. I have never had this squelch sound before. I would appreciate any help. It's driving me crazy.

Curious - which PD? AFAIK CPD is digital. as is most of the county. I have seen some VHF have a long and I mean loooong squelch tail, if so not much one can do.

I have no idea what Carl channel is - but Columbus PD is most definetly trunked. They have been for several years. I bough a trunking canner 6-7 or more years ago just so I could hear them.

They are part of this www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=660 A Motorola Type II Smartnet System. They will be going to Marcs or Marcs IP - but I do not know the timeline.

Check / post on Radio Reference in the Ohio group. forums.radioreference.com/ohio-radio-discussion-forum/

Coupe of locals including one that runs the online feed.

Sorry I meant Control channel. Don't know why I get the loud squelch sound. I thought maybe it had to do with a control channel issue.

Shot in the dark ....... I believe someone, somewhere, posted that the squelch "tail" could be shortened, or eliminated, by setting the "delay" to one of the minus number options. I believe this is only possible by editing a Favorites List, and is not an option when monitoring the Database. Of course, my memory is not what it used to be, lol.
