I just got my Home Patrol Friday. My 1st scanner was crystal controlled my 2nd scanner I bought in the 70's was a Bearcat that you had to program in binary. The was a series of switched that was for 0 or 1, It came with a manual that had the frequency and then the binary code to put into the scanner. Boy have things changed since then. I printed the manual from marksscanners.com/index.shtml and haven't stopped all week end. I am using a Uniden suction cup window mount antenna which I've had for years and I'm getting stuff I have never picked up on my Radio Shack PRO-2051, or that I haven't been able to hear since Huntington, WV area has gone digital. The sound quality amazes me since the speaker is so small. I have been able to make a favorites list of Cabell and Wayne Counties. My next step will be to upgrade to Extreme and get a copy ARC Patrol in about a month or 2. So right now I'm really happy to restart my old hobby again.
