Hello Iam new here. First off I havnt used ems,police,911,firestation scanner in love long. Iam trying to see what you think i would need or help me. First off I had an old scanner and i only had my local small town in galesburg, illinois and it was what I call programmed(which you may call it something else) but it scan and read what happening for each thing I punched in> Well the scanner went bad and i found an app with scanners on my cell phone and they had things in which i didnt know you could do in real life scanner. But on that app i guess it may had already been auto code entered. you didnt have to enter your codes . But what amused me was thatyou could choose other countrys and then other states and towns and etc. And so I thought wow. But then cell went bad and now iam wondering if you could get those other countries, towns, counties, states all on 1 scanner? So Iam not a trucker or travel for buisness it would be at my house scanner. Iam wondering if they make these scanner?(you can program others counties, states, towns in at the sametime) and if so any scanners out there that come pre codes already enterned in? thanks for the help.

Keep in mind - the scanner app on your phone is NOT a scanner. It connects you to a server which carries streamed audio from scanner users who use their scanners to send the audio to that server.

You cannot expect to receiver something on your own personal scanner which is outside the radio range of the signal you wish to hear. For example, your town's police, fire and DPW would be picked up by YOUR scanner but you cannot listen to something from several hundred miles away on YOUR scanner like you can with the phone app.

You are still limited by the laws of physics...
