I read in the specs that the HP-1 scans at 100 channels/sec. However, I notice that the unit cycles slowly through the various systems, sometimes pausing on one of the systems for 20 or 30 seconds (or even more). Does this mean the HP-1 is locked onto that system and NOT scanning the others? Or does what appears in the System line not affect that actual scanning speed?

I guess I'm wondering what I'm missing on the other systems when the unit appears to be paused on a different system. Can anyone make sense of this for me?

Thanks.

To "scan" a trunked system, a scanner must continuously monitor the control channel for about 1-2 seconds to determine what traffic is on the system. If a trunked system has multiple sites, then this time will be multiplied by the number of sites being actively checked.

Long dwell times for a trunked system is generally a symptom of the system not being adequately geotagged (so HomePatrol is spending some time on either distant or redundant sites).
