I usually set my battery capacity to 200 ma which makes it 1.2 hours. It's pretty hard to destroy the batteries in 1.2 hours IMHO. However, this will not be enough time to recharge depleted batteries. It will put in 200 mah into a 2300 mah battery. If it's 3/4 discharged, it will only put in the same 200 mah leaving it less than 1/2 charged. I second the recommendation to use an external smart-charger.

The only thing that doesn't work is the recording feature. Has to have batteries installed to do that. Don't know why. When my battery melted I just charged overnight. Uniden has never told me if the radio or battery was defective.
