I messed up the stock 2300 MAH batteries that came with the unit by constantly charging them all the time. As a result, they die after only a few hours of use. Please recommend good replacement batteries (brand names, types, where to buy, etc.). Thanks.

I use the POWEREX 2700's in combination with the MAHA C-9000 charger/analyzer.Available at Batteries Plus.

I've had pretty good luck with the Eveready 2300 mah NIMH batteries. I set the charge time to 1 hour and only select "Begin Charging" when I know I've been running it on battery for a while when mobile. When I've got it in the house, I use an external NIMH charger which does one-at-at-time battery charging/level detection.

Charging in the scanner all the time, especially at the 2300 mah setting, is definitely a risky proposition.
