Is it possible to power the BDC436HP with the batteries removed from a wall wart style USB power supply and how much current would the USB power supply need to produce??

Yes, but not recommended as no recording function will work with the batteries out. Any standard USB adapter would work.

So you're saying it's ok to leave the batteries in and use a standard USB adapter? Forgive my ignorance I have had my scanner for only two days. I managed to brick the scanner on day one. lol
All is well however now.

Yes, that is correct. You can use any USB source to power/charge the scanner.

That's good to know. Thanks for your reply. I really like the 436. Just have to get used to the new "profile" layout. I have been studying up on it and have made slight head way. I'm a member at RR as well and have found some great threads about this scanner. Congrats on developing a great scanner.
