I think your right.I just hook up my HomePatrol to a discone antenna mounted up on the roof at 25 feet high. I can now receive one WX channel at 162.5500 loud and clear. That's better then none. I'm happy.
By the way my Midland weather radio only receives the same one channel at this location with its 24 inch built in metal whip antenna,and the signal it receives is a little weak.

Pollocko, I just cycled trhough the weather frequencies on the HP-1. This is what I'm getting now in Brownstown.
161.7750, 162.4500, 162.4750, 162.5500.
162.5500 is the main one for us, so it's good that this one is clear.
Tom,You are about 50 miles or more west of my location in Macomb Twp. This is probably why you receive the other channels. 162.5500 is about all thats loud and clear at this location even on my pro 97 base-mobile scanner, a few of the other channels it receives are very weak, and fell out. Glade to hear 162.5500 is the main one for us. Thank you for the information.
