I am in Saginaw and just got a home patrol unit last week. I got mine used on Craigslist. I am liking it so far. I like being able to monitor the surrounding counties. Much more action compared to 1994 when I got my first 800 MHz police scanner. Hard to believe all those scanners from the 90's are obsolete now. I also see Midland county is going digital in spring 2015. As I stated earlier- I have been scanning since 1994 and have owned at least a dozen scanners in the past 20 years. I tried to adopt to digital 3 years ago with a digital radio shack scanner but I just could not figure it out. Home Patrol simplifies everything. I also had to purchase $100 in accessories with the Radio shack scanner: DC adaptor, computer cable, win software, rechargeable batteries and a subscription to radio reference to program the scanner.
