A new HP2 user just reported that he's not hearing anything on the Nevada, Clark County, Southern Nevada Area Communications Council (SNACC) system. Looking at the system, it appears that most of the sites in Clark County (Las-Vegas metro area) have no ranges.

Does the site range take its defaults from the talkgroup ranges or vice-versa? I thought the sites ranges took precedence.

I did a short test with my HP1 by setting my location to Las Vegas, NV. The SNACC system only shows 2 sites and one of those is out of range so the issue apparently is that the sites have no ranges and thus are not downloaded or are not receivable by Uniden HomePatrol-type scanners. It appears to be a RR database problem.

Bob I had a good response on an Ohio location issue by just submitting it to RR. They can at least default them to something.

It's really amazing how many location errors are in the DB.

Yes, it's already been taken care of and should appear in today's download I expect.

I worked with another admin to straighten out Massachusetts. It's a tough job but you have to understand that the original addition of location data was entirely done almost single-handed by Paul Opitz for the whole country. A daunting task for sure.

They were always in there but the sites had no ranges except on a couple of the VHF high sites. All of the sites (7 or 8 I think) should now have valid ranges.
